ASTM A193 B7M Blind Flanges

The ASTM A193 B7M Blind Flange is a solid, circular forged disc used to completely block or terminate the end of a piping run, valve, or pressure vessel opening. Unlike other flange types, the Blind Flange has no bore and its primary function, when bolted into place, is to provide a positive seal to isolate the system or to allow for future expansion. Zeron Fasteners manufactures these flanges using the B7M equivalent alloy steel grade. The key feature is the material's controlled maximum hardness (the 'M' designation), which is achieved through specific heat treatment. This modification is essential for providing enhanced resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking (SCC). This makes B7M Blind Flanges mandatory for isolating systems in high-pressure, high-temperature service within the petrochemical, chemical, and power generation industries, ensuring the integrity of the pressure boundary and compliance with sour service standards (NACE MR0175).
